YES I HAVE! Movies has been the best thing ever happened to me in learning this language! But I think talkin' is much more interesting and better,cuz u don't have time to think about whacha wanna say! u gotta speak just like whacha do in persian!!! x x

yes of course.by the way I learned English in a british system and I soppose even cant understand some of yuor american expression!
tell me about how you have learned speaking and what were your tricks to learn this goddamn language! so you can help others who read this page.
movie is one of the unique way to speak but at first it is very hard to understand the term used in movies.for me it was a nightmare!​

Oh yeah?! British?! I'm sorry If I used some none-standard English phrases,I'm used to it I can't help it!
Acually I started learning English at the 3rd grade of Highschool,and I found this laguange as intersting 'n exciting as Play Station Soccer game(Pro Evolution Soccer),and maybe even more interesting!I said hey!! It's EXOTIC!!! to be honest ,I was learning English just like others at ILI,except for my higher grades ! This was goin' on like what I told u till I happend to be a student of a teacher in High-Intermidiate 2 who later became my best teacher ever in all aspects of my life 'n he turned out to be just like a native american! You have no idea how damn good he was! I mean his accent and the way He spoke was like none of those I'd seen,I was 100% impressed!! He told us how great the effect of movies had been on him!He taught us REAL English!! not like these bullshits in Iranian English books,he made me start discovering the world of movies!!at that time I got that all I've learnt up to that moment was nothin'!yea I agree with you,it was really difficult at first,but I used to watch each movie for several times,almost everything is difficult at the very beginning,since after I fell in love with movies! he was more like a close friend than a teacher to me,He was my teacher from that term till Advanced 4 that I graduated from ILI about 2 years ago,we're still in touch,and I'm still watching movies! After I graduated from ILI I started using a software called Skype by which u can call it's users ,so I tried to find ppl from other countries and to talk to them everyday,and I've been doing somethin' funny,I've told 'em that I'm an american to test my accent! and up to this moment none of 'em has got it that I'm not an american!!! but when I met my american friend I didn't dare to tell her that I'm an american,you know!! so I just told her the truth ,but she complimented me on my speaking english 'n accent saying " How do u speak English so well?!,you're so cool man! ppl here are boring man!" these were exactly what she said,at that time I was flyin' in the sky! You couldn't find me on the earth believe me! I mean I'd heard lots of those several times but not from an American!!! the other day she used a word " Gangsta" and I thought it means gangster but she told me she calls her close friends gangsta,so I asked what gangsta means in the other part of the English thread here to see if anybody knows the meaning but they answered gangster,I mean everytime I talk to her I learn a new thing,after all one of the other best ways of learning this language is talking to foreigners every day and I'm tellin' ya dude,If he or she is an american it's the BEST way possible for helping you out(If you're accent is American which I love)! I talked your head off,I'm really sorry!! I get so talkative when it comes to English.
Anyway,it was a short summary of How I've been learning English which may seem so boring to some ppl,I'm really sorry If I made u bored!!! x

I became really excited when I understood you have learnt it without travelling to any foreign country .I mean that is cool.
your story really impressed me and you are very talented in English .now I want to tell my story last year about 8 months ago when I accepted in university my family moved to Dubai for my father's job .since I couldnt stay in tehran alone I decided to go to go Dubai with them so I took 2 semester off from my uni and went with them. Here I had nothing to do but to choose learning English in my free time so I registered in english class .The majority of courses her wasbritish and I hated british accent and hate now after6 month I got my ielts with scoore 7 and i am still practising English every
dayuntill my uni sarts
I hope you didnt get bored from my story.​

well! let me say my thought. when i look at my curriculums and english classrooms. i can't find any pro teacher that can guide me to learn english conversation. my grade 7,8,9 teacher was an old and tired man that dictate us to write english words many times
i don't remember that someone enforce me to speak english in classroom . i think this is very important to remember and learn a language.
now! i really like and want to speak english and understand original language film.but i'm weak
do you know we can't have english conversation. because we are like a shy people we are afraid or something else...bb.

yes i totally agree with you
our teachers werent sufficient enough to learn us a practical style of English .
moreover,they couldnt speak English themselves.
But a big problem that I believe already exist in our teaching method is grammer.
we pay too much attention to grammer than it needs.
even in the English institutes books are full of gramatical example and lessons.
This enablr us too learn a practical kind of English.
In my opinion grammer should be the last thing that a learner is tought
It should be tought indirectly through the sentences
.not as a seprate matter

Both of your Ideas are true . i`m agree that teachers are not SkillFul enough also we have many teachers that can do their job very well , nevertheless I think the main reason that learning and speaking English is a kind of nightmare for us , is the pure system that we use to learn

an easy example of my statement is the awful methods used in our guidance and high schools that are really Untrust able and here the pure system Pluses the way that our teachers work in there, as you told

I think learning by memorizing the sentences can be a useful way to start learning both the words and the grammers

for instance I can remember the sentences of texts in my ILI main book I read them about 5 years ago , I think , the way my dear " My Number One " is uses to learn English by listening to the Conversations of the movies is the same method that i mentioned

for example for me It takes a whole 6 months to be familliar to the sentences in English.
In that 6 months I stoped watching persian program and reduce my persian talking at home.It was
crusially difficult but I got it!.
It is really important to make your comperehensible sources like Tv, radio and even book and news paper in English.And just for a temporary period only use English media at home.It is really helpful.

Yes ,I guess It is easier to learn here rather than Iran ,anyway ,I didnt have any experience of
learning English in an institue in Iran I just graduated from highschool and came here.But here is not even comparable to any of westwrn country .People here are mainly Arab and Hindi .although the commersial or official language is English but
people often have a very poor nativty in English and an awful accent!
I guess if you rise up here your accent would be more hindi rather than English!
but there are more native speakers in comparison to Tehran and this is a great benefit.Yes I am a college student and I needed to learn it .I heared about nosrat method.when The first time I saw it I thought it was perfect and I believe it is.But my only critisize is its accent.it is good for begining but as long as you become better it doesnt work for you.It is better to get use to listen to the news or something that is spoken by a native speaker.you know it is completely diffrent with our style of speaking and It is hard but better than anythig else.For example if you listen to the English radio or tv 1 hour every day I garantee that you would see a great progress
after a couple of months
