J.P. Merlet ” Parallel Robots (Solid Mechanics and Its Applications) “
Springer; 2nd ed. edition | 2006 | ISBN: 1402041322 | 394 pages | PDF | 5,82 Mb

Parallel robots are closed-loop mechanisms presenting very good performances in terms of accuracy, velocity, rigidity and ability to manipulate large loads. They have been used in a large number of applications ranging from astronomy to flight simulators and are becoming increasingly popular in the field of machine-tool industry. This book presents a complete synthesis of the latest results on the possible mechanical architectures, analysis and synthesis of this type of mechanism. It is intended to be used by students (with over 150 exercises and numerous internet addresses), researchers (with over 650 references and anonymous ftp access to the code of some algorithms presented in this book) and engineers (for which practical results, mistakes to avoid, and applications are presented).Since the publication of the first edition (2000) there has been an impressive increase in terms of study and use of this kind of structure that are reported in this book. This second edition has been completely overhauled. The initial chapter on kinematics has been split into Inverse Kinematics and Direct Kinematics. A new chapter on calibration was added. The other chapters have also been rewritten to a large extent. The reference section has been updated to include around 45% new works that appeared after the first edition.

Product Description:

Managing new product development is a key area of management, straddling strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship and macro-organizational behaviour.

All of the contributorsin the Handbook of New Product Developmentare are well-known and leading exponents to theory of New Product Development and to methods used in practice. They draw upon their experience and work to offer a comprehensive view of the challenges in managing the development of new products. Existing knowledge in the different topics is examined and the key management challenges, and the important gaps in our knowledge are discussed. Most of the chapters draw upon systematic interaction with companies and practice and this is presented in the examples and the case studies cited.

The Handbook of New Product Development and Management surveys this area in the context of an overall framework that explains how aspects interact and combine in a successful NPD process. Each chapter outlines open questions and highlights needs for future research.

*A comprehensive view of the challenges in managing the development of new products from well-known and leading contributors in the field
* The first handbook to fill the gap for a high-level handbook which is valuable to both the academic/practitioner

Modeling and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics

Peter H. Zipfel “Modeling and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics”
AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Ast) | 2007-04-15 | ISBN: 1563478757 | 567 pages | PDF | 5,7 Mb

This book unifies all aspects of flight dynamics for the efficient development of aerospace vehicle simulations. It provides the reader with a complete set of tools to build, program, and execute simulations. Unlike other books, it uses
tensors for modeling flight dynamics in a form invariant under coordinate transformations. For implementation, the tensors are converted to matrices, resulting in compact computer code. The reader can pick templates of missiles, aircraft, or hypersonic vehicles to jump-start a particular application.
It is the only textbook that combines the theory of modeling with hands-on examples of three-, five-, and six-DoF simulations. Free access to eight prototype simulations and to CADAC Studio–used in the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Germany–is included with the book.
Amply illustrated with 318 figures and 44 examples, the text can be used for advanced undergraduate and graduate instruction or for self-study. Also included are 77 problems that enhance the ability to model aerospace vehicles and nine projects that hone the skills for developing three-, five-, and six-DoF simulations. Instructors may request a solution manual at no cost from the publisher.

Turbomachines are those in which energy is transferred to or from a continuously moving fluid by the motion of a rotating element. Some of the most common and important machines used in engineering and industry fall into this category, including those which absorb power (and thereby increase fluid pressure), such as fans, compressors and pumps. Also included are equally vital varieties of machines which generate power from the expansion of fluids to lower pressures such as hydraulic, steam and gas turbines.
